Overview
The Homeland of Alexander the Great
Everyone knows the name of Alexander the Great. But very few people have been to the place where it all began. This journey is an opportunity to see the real Macedonia — not from textbooks, but with your own eyes. ⸻ Vergina — the first capital of Macedonia (UNESCO World Heritage Site) We will visit ancient Aigai — today’s Vergina — which is included in the UNESCO World Heritage List. It is here that the royal tombs of the Macedonian kings were discovered. Inside a special underground museum lies the burial place of Philip II, the father of Alexander the Great, along with other royal tombs. You enter inside the hill — and suddenly find yourself in a royal necropolis. Gold, weapons, jewelry, symbols of power — all authentic. This is not just a museum. It is a place of power and greatness. ⸻ Pella — the city where Alexander was born Next we will travel to the second capital of Macedonia — Pella. Here you will find the archaeological site of the ancient city and one of the most beautiful archaeological museums in the region. You will see: • incredibly beautiful mosaic floors • the remains of the royal palace • ancient streets and the marketplace Pella is no longer a legend — it is a real city where Macedonian kings once walked its streets. ⸻ Between visits we will enjoy a relaxed lunch at a local tavern and have a coffee. ⸻ This tour is for those who want to discover the homeland of Alexander the Great without boring lectures or endless dates. Here history is felt not through numbers, but through its scale. ⸻
