To Elder Paisios and the Holy Orthodox Shrines
There are trips that people plan in advance. And there are journeys that the heart itself calls us to. This pilgrimage is a journey to holy places where people come not out of curiosity, but with prayer. We will visit 2–3 monasteries located far from the noise of busy roads and everyday bustle. Places where everything lives in prayer. To Elder Paisios We will venerate the grave of Saint Elder Paisios of Mount Athos — one of the most revered spiritual elders of our time. Elder Paisios fell asleep in the Lord on July 12, 1994. Since then, people from all over the world have been coming to his grave in Souroti, near Thessaloniki. They come with requests, with gratitude, with pain, and with hope. The holy elder remains close to many people. His teachings, books, conversations, and living testimonies of help continue to strengthen believers even today. We will approach his grave calmly and without haste. Everyone will have the opportunity to remain in silence and offer their own prayer. Shrine of Saint Anastasia the Great Martyr We will visit the monastery of Saint Anastasia the Great Martyr the Deliverer from Bonds. During the persecutions under Emperor Diocletian, the saint endured great suffering and a martyr’s death. For her steadfast faith the Church calls her the Great Martyr, and for the help she offers in healing severe illnesses — the Deliverer from Bonds. Sadly, the relics of the saint were stolen in 2014, but the memory of her and the prayerful help associated with this holy place continue to live on. The quiet Monastery of the Holy Trinity After that, we will travel to the quiet and secluded monastery of the Holy Trinity. It is a place of extraordinary beauty and inner light. There are no crowds here. There is silence, openness, and a deep sense of God’s presence.
This journey is not about distance. It is about encounter. An opportunity to pause, to pray, and to entrust to the Lord what you carry in your heart. And if you feel that this is exactly what you need — then perhaps the time has come to begin the journey.
